Max Skibinsky is serial entrepreneur, angel investor & start-up mentor in Silicon Valley. After arriving from Russia in 90’ties Max bootstrapped his first consulting startup to service demand for highly qualified C++ developers during first dot com boom that led to working with clients such as Netscape, AOL, Celera Genomics and Electronic Arts. Later Max became one of first employees and lead software architect at newly formed Voltage Security, an encryption startup incubated at Standford University. In 2005 Max founded Hive7, built upon vision of delivering virtual world experience using pure HTML/AJAX technology. After Facebook opened up its platform, Hive7 leveraged its AJAX expertise to become one of the early leaders in social gaming known for its smash hit game “Knighthood” that grown to many millions players. After developing portfolio of social games of different genres deployed across Facebook, MySpace and Bebo networks and reaching over 10 millions players, Hive7 was sold to Playdom/Disney in 2010. Max is resident mentor in 500 Startups incubator and serves as advisor to number of startups that graduated from 500 Startups and YCombinator programs. In 2011 he co-founded Inporia with Ryan Junee that secured investment from YCombinator, Ron Conway/SV Angels, NEA, Start Fund, Clearstone, Ignition and other prominent angels. When not designing, recruiting, brainstorming, advising, and building startups Max can be found flying around Palo Alto airspace.
